The Nextbase Ride Dash Cam – One of the Best Around

Over recent years, dash cams have become incredibly popular with millions of road users all over the United Kingdom. Not only are car drivers installing them in their vehicles, but motorcycle riders are also making use of them too.

Motorcycle riders are perhaps among the most vulnerable road users out there, so anything that can improve safety is a good thing. Choosing a motorcycle dash cam can be difficult because there aren’t that many out there at the moment.

This is why we decided to test and review the Nextbase Ride Motorcycle Dashcam. It is one of the first dashcams solely designed for motorcycle users. Please read on below for our verdict.

The Review

First of all, we are going to go over the design of this motorcycle dashcam from Nextbase. Upon first look, we were a little worried that it appeared quite bulky and wondered if it would be too heavy to use comfortably.

However, after we had a proper look at it we were really surprised by how lightweight this motorcycle dash cam actually is. At only 680g, it doesn’t compromise your riding at all.

An Incredibly Well Designed Dash Cam

The main thing that really stood out for us in terms of the design of this dash cam is the fully waterproof IPx6 housing. Not only does it protect the camera itself, but it also means that you are able to use it in all weathers. We tested it during wet weather and didn’t have any issues at all.

The only thing that we didn’t really like about the design of this one is the screen. It is only 1.5 inches and whilst this is good in terms of keeping the device compact, we did find that it made playback a little difficult to see which was a shame.

The camera itself has a full HD 1080P resolution. We tested this out in multiple different lighting conditions and we found that during the day, footage was crystal clear. However, we did find that the nighttime footage was a little more difficult to decipher, particularly number plates which could cause problems.

Extra Features of the Nextbase Ride Dash Cam

There were two features that we really liked with this camera. First of all, there is the built in 1 hour battery. This means that you are able to use the camera for short journeys without having to have it plugged in to a power source which is very helpful.

The second feature that we really liked was the built in GPS tracking system. With this, you are able to pinpoint exactly where you are on a digital map which could be very useful for insurance purposes.

Our Final Thoughts on the Nextbase Ride

Overall, we have to say that we were really impressed with this motorcycle dashcam and wouldn’t expect anything less from Nextbase. There are a few issues that could definitely be ironed out, but as we already mentioned above, motorcycle dashcams are only now becoming popular so it is likely that technology will start to improve very soon.
