The Review
To start off with, as we always do, we’re going to talk about the design of the Aukey DR01 dash cam. What we really liked about this one is just how compact the camera actually is. It is a nice shape that doesn’t get in the way of your view from the windscreen at all.
Just from feeling around the device before we even switched it on, it was clear that it has been made from really high quality materials. It definitely feels like a much more expensive dash cam than it actually is.
Installing the Aukey DR01 Dash Cam
In terms of installation and initial setup, this dash cam could not have been simpler. What we really liked about the installation is that you are provided with two sticky mounts, both of which are very small. This makes the camera much more discreet when it is mounted.
The initial setup was no trouble at all and after a quick flick through all of the settings we were able to get it up and running within a matter of minutes. After that, we were able to get the real tests started.
The Aukey DR01 dash cam has a 170 degree wide angle lens. This covers approximately 6 lanes, so you are easily able to capture anything that may occur around your vehicle. In terms of resolution, we were really pleased.
Grainy Nighttime Recording but Excellent Daytime Resolution
We found that the 1080P full HD resolution was able to capture everything during daytime recording with crystal clarity. During the night, however, we found that the images were a little grainy and difficult
to see properly which was a little disappointing.
One nice additional feature that really stood out for us with this dash cam is that it is powered via the ultracapacitor, rather than the car battery. What this means is that it is far more heat resilient, so if you do a lot of traveling to different places then this is going to be of benefit to you.
Our Final Thoughts on the Aukey DR01 Dash Cam
Overall, we have to say that we were really pleased with this dash cam. There are certainly a few things that could be improved such as the quality of nighttime recording, but there are also plenty of benefits that make it more than worth the money that you can expect to pay for this model. We would definitely recommend it.
